How We Review Software
Software reviews on this site are evaluated against the needs of small service businesses — not generic enterprise criteria. Reviews are based on official product documentation, verified pricing, and structured industry-fit analysis. We clearly label whether a review is documentation-based or includes hands-on testing. Evaluation criteria
Does the software solve a real workflow problem for the target business type? Does it match how that business actually operates?
How long does it take to get up and running? Can a non-technical business owner configure it without a consultant?
Does it do what it says it does, reliably? Are the core features accessible without paying for the highest tier?
Does it connect with other tools common in its target market? Does it play well with the rest of a typical stack?
Is the pricing model fair? Is there a viable free or low-cost tier for small businesses? Does the cost scale reasonably?
Is this tool actually designed for small service businesses, or is it enterprise software being sold down-market?
Ratings
Where ratings are shown, they use a simple 1–5 scale. We avoid false precision like 9.73/10. A rating of 4 means "good, with meaningful limitations." A rating of 5 means "excellent for its target use case."
Research methods
Each review is labeled with the research method used:
- Documentation-based — Based on official product documentation, pricing pages, help centers, and publicly available product information. Most current reviews use this method.
- Hands-on tested — We created an account and tested the product directly. This label is only used when testing has actually occurred.
What we do not do
- We do not claim hands-on testing unless it has actually been performed.
- We do not give every tool a high rating.
- We do not rate tools higher because they offer higher commissions.
- We do not publish fake testimonials or user reviews.
- We do not fabricate prices, performance data, or user quotes.
Information currency
Software changes. Pricing changes. Features are added and removed. We track when information was last verified and update pages when we discover changes. If you find outdated information, please tell us.
