Our Research Methodology
Software Fit Guide publishes evidence-based software evaluations for small service businesses. We use three research levels, each clearly labeled on relevant pages. We do not claim hands-on testing unless it has actually been performed.
Documentation-Based Research
Most current reviews on this site use this method. We evaluate products using publicly available information — without creating an account or paying for the software.
Evidence sources may include:
- Official pricing pages
- Official product documentation and help centers
- Feature comparison tables published by the vendor
- Integration directories
- Terms of service and policies
- Publicly available product announcements and changelogs
Hands-On Testing
When we create an account and test a product directly, we label the review accordingly. This label is never applied to documentation-only reviews.
Our testing framework (when performed):
- Account creation and initial setup
- Customer or contact creation
- Booking or job creation
- Scheduling and recurring scheduling
- Payment and invoicing workflow
- Automation configuration
- Mobile usability
- Key integrations
- Data export
- Cancellation process
- Time required for common actions
Industry Fit Analysis
We evaluate software against the specific operational requirements of each target industry. A tool that is excellent for agencies may be completely wrong for a driving school. Our recommendations vary by business type, team size, budget, and workflow.

Pricing accuracy policy
Software pricing changes frequently. Our policy:
- We do not publish specific prices unless they have been verified against the official pricing page on a recorded date.
- Where prices are unverified or likely to change, we link directly to the official pricing page.
- We record the date pricing was last checked and update it when we re-verify.
- We do not invent prices.
